Normally, like most people, I very much enjoy being right. There’s something so vindicating about accurately recognizing patterns and being able to extrapolate that into predicting the future. And there were A LOT of us that were right in 2016 when we warned that a future in Trump’s America was going to be a shitshow the likes of which we hadn’t seen in like, oh 100 years or so. How were we able to recognize that pattern, you ask? Super duper easily, actually- because it was an open book fucking test.

It was less than 100 years ago that the world warred over the unspeakably horrific genocide of European Jews at the hands of the Nazis during the Holocaust. Other than a handful of lunatic nutjobs that deny the Holocaust ever took place, we all have at least a high level understanding of the events. We know about Anne Frank and, if you went to my middle school, you read the book her best friend wrote about Anne and also met her personally when she came to speak at our school. The blueprint was already there. We can access every bit of information about this atrocity in the blink of an eye. And if you want to really dig in to the nitty gritty of it, the Nazis took inspiration directly from the blight on American history that is chattel slavery and Jim Crow South, but that’s a discussion for another day.

Here we are, 10 years later, and I can’t even take pleasure in being right because my being right means the world is on fire. We warned you that it would escalate to this. Hell, THEY warned you it would escalate to this and you stuck your fingers in your ears and screamed LALALALALALA rather than doing even a modicum of research into Project 2025. We warned you that eventually you were going to stop being insulated from the fall out. That, while you basked in the glory of others’ suffering, Karma was winding up her own personal curveball especially for you. We tried to save you from yourselves. But it’s too late now. To be quite honest, I hope every single one of you gets back tenfold what you’ve wished on immigrants, LGBTQIA+ people, Palestinians, single moms, and everyone in between.

Progressive white women, I’m speaking directly to you now: we are beyond legislation course correcting this. The men are not going to fix this and the Black Women have earned their rest and our protection if that is what they so choose. We must be on the frontlines of this battle, and that means we are going to become public enemy number one. They’re going to hate us even more than they hate everyone else because they are going to see us as race traitors. We are going to lose our proximity to whiteness and our privilege. We must be willing to sacrifice those comforts to do the right thing.

It’s not about being on the right side of history or doing something so you can sleep at night. Those justifications center us. This is about using our bodies to protect those who have been brutalized since the birthplace of this filthy nation. Because historically, we have been the biggest threat to them as we have moved in covert silence. We have gotten Black boys lynched and Black girls beaten and raped, we have gotten gay men strung up on fence posts- we have been complicit in every atrocity that has taken place on this land because we thought that by cosigning the white man’s agenda we would be protected. But being master’s favorite dog is still having a master and being a dog. It is beyond time to accept that the men will not protect us. They are not leaders. They are useless, punk ass little bitches with submission kinks and it is imperative that we not count on them for anything. They cannot be trusted not to buckle under the pressure. Sidenote– if you’re a man and that offended you, I am definitely talking about you.

Our Department of Homeland Security has warned us that we, American citizens, need to be prepared to present our “papers” at any given time. That’s Nazi shit. Our media is being purchased by far right billionaires so that they can control the narrative of the news cycle. That’s some Nazi shit. The Vice President has stated that deranged, masked ICE agents are going to start going door-to-door. That’s Nazi shit. Our President is trying to bully the world into bending to his will by threatening violence if they stand against him. That’s some Nazi shit. He’s deploying federal troops on his own people and targeting blue states, especially ones that have had the audacity to speak out against him, like Minnesota. Nazi shit. A woman was shot point blank in the face three times and killed by ICE LIVE AND IN COLOR and the republicans are tripping over themselves trying to justify it and gaslight us into believing we didn’t see the whole fucking thing with our own eyes. That. Is. Some. Nazi. Shit. Every single move this administration has made since January 2025 has been a giant leapfrog into authoritarianism and fascism. This is not me being fucking hyperbolic or dramatic. It’s me being firmly planted in fucking reality.

I am not an inherently violent person. It’s not something I enjoy or seek out. But we are not going to fix this with some soothing words and a can-do attitude. The time for passivism has come and gone. Our Congress has completely abandoned us, and the “opposition party” continues to vote to give more money to the American Gestapo. Mayors and Governors are sitting on their hands lecturing people about violence rather than deploying their state’s troops to protect their people. But if violence weren’t the answer, the other guys wouldn’t employ it so fucking often. I have shot a firearm one singular time in my almost 41-years of life and I have read all the horrifying statistics about keeping guns in a home with young children. But at this point, it feels unwise and dangerous not to arm myself and my family. I’m ready to take all of us down to the gun range to learn how to shoot and operate firearms, because I’ll be goddamned if I’m going to let the biggest losers on the planet with a power trip and a gun threaten me or mine. Some of you may be willing to wait and see, but I am not. Because if the events of the last several weeks have not convinced you that the country is no longer running on law and order I simply do not know what will.

I am guilty of this too, but we HAVE to stop sitting back and waiting for someone else to take the lead. If you need to start small by sharing on social media or risking familial peace by calling out their cruelty, fine. But please for the love of all that is holy, take the first step. We no longer have the luxury of complacency. The absolute worst shit we can imagine is already here whether you acknowledge it or not, and it’s roaming the streets with military grade weapons, an 8th grade education, and a chip on its shoulder the size of Texas. These are pent up incels who have never known the touch of a woman and they’re making it everyone’s problem. They are unhinged and dangerous, and this is only the beginning. It is only going to amp up for here. Arm yourselves accordingly.
