For the Love of All That is Holy, Lefties– Do NOT Throw Your Support Behind Liz Cheney

Honestly, I cannot believe I even had to write that title out. First, let’s do a quick recap:

Liz Cheney *was* a congresswoman from Wyoming. She also just so happens to be political and republican royalty, seeing as how her father was, you know, Vice President of the United States with the George W. Bush administration, Dick “I Shot My Neighbor” Cheney himself. He is also a truly abhorrent human oh! And also a war criminal. You know– one of America’s finest!

Liz Cheney was one of 10 –10- republican congresspeople to vote to impeach Cinnamon Hitler for his clear and obvious crimes against the republic. 201 elected members of the House of Representatives failed in their sworn duties when they decided Trump’s transgressions were normal, acceptable, even encouraged his fuckery with gusto and pride.

Not only did she vote to impeach their Tangerine Overlord, she was a loud and proud member of the January 6th Committee, the legislators charged with investigating the Insurrection incited by Trump and his flunkies. The GOP and its base perceived Cheney’s behavior, and that of her nine cohorts, as the ultimate betrayal, the true unforgivable sin. From that moment on, they made it their life’s mission to unseat her and punish her for her crimes. And that is exactly what they did.

Cheney lost her primary to Harriet Hageman, herself a freshly reformed “Never Trumper.” She took a political gamble and she lost handily. But here’s the thing, and stick with me now! Stating the literal truth should not be a political gamble. You… you understand that, right? Tens of millions of people voted for Trump, yes. But MORE people voted for Biden, and so Biden won. It really is as simple as that. That this was a controversial statement which lost political royalty her elected position will never not baffle me. For as long as I have my right mind, I will remain flummoxed over the things that have happened in the past six years.

But I digress. This isn’t an article about Post Trump Fallout, this is an article about Liz Cheney. I have seen numerous left-leaning people, mostly white women, who have declared themselves for Liz Cheney when she inevitably announces her run for the presidency in 2024. I cannot possibly overstate what a mistake that would be.

Liz Cheney did one right thing. ONE RIGHT THING. She literally just said, “yes this thing that clearly happened happened and we should stop saying that it did not.” And now you, a self-proclaimed “life-long democrat” are ready to throw your hat in her ring?! Are you fucking kidding me?!?!?! That’s not a rhetorical question, I’m looking for an answer from anyone that feels this way.

Liz Cheney is not a good person. She does not come from good people. She is a bad person who may have voted TO impeach Trump, but also voted FOR Trump. She believed/s in Trump’s policies. She did not and could vote for a democrat or democratic policies. Don’t believe me? Just watch:

93% of the time. By her own admission, she voted in favor of Trump’s policies 93% of the time. Here are just a few examples for you:

  • Inflation Reduction Act of 2022: No
  • Assault Weapons Ban of 2022: No
  • Women’s Health Protection Act of 2022: Did not vote
  • Ensuring Access to Abortion Act of 2022: Did not vote
  • Formula Act: Did not vote
  • LGBTQI+ Data Inclusion Act: No
  • Meat and Poultry Special Investigator Act of 2022: No
  • Federal Reserve Racial and Economic Equity Act: No
  • Protecting Our Kids Act: No
  • Consumer Fuel Price Gouging Prevention Act: No
  • Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act of 2022: No
  • Infant Formula Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022: No

That’s all just since May of 2022. You tell me how any of those votes or abstentions align with your political and ideological values and I’ll show you someone with a fundamental misunderstanding as to how any of this works. Admiring one single act from an abysmal human does not suddenly erase all the shitty things they’ve done. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The law of averages dictates that even the worst among us get it right occasionally.

But Liz Cheney is not some feminist warrior savior. She does not have our best interests at heart. She loves guns and hates abortions and did not vote in favor of helping struggling mothers get baby formula and, I feel it behooves me to once again reiterate, almost completely agrees with what Trump was put into office to do. She just doesn’t approve of, you know, the crime.

Just say no, friends. Liz Cheney neither needs nor deserves our support. She is not one of us, and I for one have no intention of inviting her to the slumber party.
